IMO, I would cut off the fuel line that is going to the pump. Of course it means you cannot go back but who cares? That is what I didn instead of having a hose hang around.

Yeah. I wraped the ends of the stock fuel line with rags and zip tied it out of the way. You never know when you are in a pinch and might need it.
