Fellow Expy and Nav.ie owners. I just joined the board today in search of answers to a problem with my 04 Expy XLT (52k miles). I took it to one dealership to have a multi-point inspection, oil change and tire rot. and bal. The service guy ran down a list of things that they found that would have costs me over $1200 to fix. This truck is not ridin' hard and put away wet mind you. Well, I opted for just multi-point inspection, oil change, tires, and they change my rear brakes. Needless to say, when I got my truck back, it started having a problem turning over during starting. It would not immediately turn over like normal. So I took it back to the dealer and they wanted the problem duplicated. Well, just like alot of us on this board, the problem never seems to want to be duplicated in the presence of the dealership. I even let the truck sit for a while (30 minutes) in the service bay. The service guy started it up without me there of course and said he didn't have a problem.
Well to cut to the chase, the problem is intermittent and I took it to the service department at the dealership that I bough it from. They did the multi-point inspection, hooked it up to the computer and replaced a couple of other things like the battery and wipers. They replaced the starter wiring connector because they think that that's the problem. Well needless to say. That didn't fix it. The problem has gotten worse so I took it back to them again. The problem really happens when the truck has been sitting for awhile. So I dropped the truck at the dealer Sunday afternoon and it sat until Monday morning. I got a call from the Service Department today and they said that they could not duplicate the problem. Which is horse ca-ca. I am going back on Saturday to get it with my brother who is going to ask to test drive an Expedition so that they can see how it's supposed to start compared to mine. It seems to me that they are not interested in fixing my problem and are relying too much on the diagnostic machines to fix problem instead of using their mechanic knowledge. They have had my truck for two days and all of a sudden the problem cannot be duplicated.
Anybody with the same or similar problem please help me!!!!
I know intermittent problems can be a bear. If the motor is turning over slowly, only a couple of things could be in play (faulty components that is). Just try to be patient with the dealership and let them see if they can replicate the problem. It would seem the only other part they could replace now is a starter.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate that. The things is, they told me today that they could not replicate the problem at all. My wife and I have experienced just about every other time we start the truck. Especially when it's been sitting for a while. It's making us look like we are lying. My next move is to video tape it so that they can see it.
I am trying to be patient, that's why I took it back to them because they have been pretty good with my truck but to tell me they can't replicate the problem, IMO, is fuey...
Also, a starter can go bad after only 51K miles on an '04 Truck?????
