Cool Wiper Blade Replacement

I woke up this morning to find out that some a$$ hole deccided to steal my wiper blades last night. Luckily i saw them missing before i turned them on. Seeing that i need new wiper blades now, i was woundering what the best choice would be for replacing them.

After going with Anco most of my life, I ended up buying the $2.87 Pylons at Walmart for my Jeep (new windshield, needed wipers asap and they didnt have my size in stock locally) and they work fantastic. When there is only a little moisture on your windshield, they stay smooth and quiet, not streaky sounding or jumpy. I have since stuck with them on my mazda, and my cougar, as well as other family members cars. I have since found the same Pylon wipers at Ocean State Job Lot (cheap closout store like Big Lots).

I now cannot see spending more money on any other brand.

I have used Anco, Trico, and others but have been using Bosch Micro Edge for the past 6 or 7 years and they are the best in my opinion. I usually only go through 1 or 2 pair a year and as long as you wipe them down with a rag every so often they dont streak.

1 or 2 pair a year??? I guess I don't feel so bad changing plugs and wires every 25,000 miles.

Honestly, I pretty much change them once a year, even though they don't show a reason to change them. So I am not much different from you.

About how much are those Bosches you mentioned? I am always considering better if its out there in the same price range.

Yeah i change them when they start to streak I dont wait for them to fall apart....i'm kinda **** about having a streak-free windshield. I got mine at Advance Auto Parts when they were having a 50% off wiper blade sale...but i think they might be $8-10 each...they are probably the most pricey but i think they are worth the cost. But like i said this is my opinion so please dont rag me if you dont agree.

I just changed out my PIAA silicone blades for the new Anco Contour blades for my truck and am very disapointed in them. The PIAAs served me well for over a year and I am a stickler for good blades. With an average blade, I will replace them every 5 or 6 months but the PIAAs held up well. The new contour blades are very quiet but they don't stay on the windshield very well and with the spoiler built into them they vibrate on the windshield at interstate speeds or when driving into a headwind. There are similar products out there like the Valeo Ultimate or the Trico Innovision but I'm hoping that they work better than the Ancos. I think next time I will just go back to the PIAA or the SuperSil blades. I have used the Bosch blades but they wore very very fast and won't go back to them.

I've tried all of the popular brands and have found that the Trico's seem to produce the best overall result. Just keep them clean using a small alcohol wipe from time to time and you will be fine.

*Stealing wiper blades worth maybe $8, what a bunch of crap. Almost seems more like a prank............

My sentiments exactly. And I don't rag on people, i get just as picky with things like plug wires and such. Its not like your spending $50 bux on wipers instead of 10.

I've tried many and my favorite is Trico. I tried some of those Bosh Icons ($40 a set) and I wasn't impressed. I see people that love them and then people like me that don't see the bennifits.

Thats what I used to use as well. at only 3.87 each, tough to beat. But that time i needed new blades for my Jeep when it was getting the new windshield, they were out on the size i needed in Anco, so sucked it up and got the pylons to tide me over. They just worked that much better. The anco's like to squeak when its only a little wet, or actually jump or skip. The cheaper Pylons are smooth and quiet. It surprised me.

I am very unhappy with the Bosch Micro Edge blades, and wouldn't recommend them.

The right end of the passenger side blade, does a terrible job of adhering to the windshield. I've switched blades, yet the problem remains.

Next time I will stick with my Anco blades, which have served me well for years...
