I'm restoring a 1992 F-150 Flareside 4x4 with a 'Nite Package'. Is the grille and headlight trim different than a regular F-150? What other differences are there with this package? I want to make sure I get the right parts.
The "Nite" package was a special edition package that was available in 1991 and 1992. The package was for the most part an appearance package, with the most noticeable features being the black paint & trim, and special multicolor stripe. The Nite package (available on the XLT Lariat truck) also included 235/75/15 white-letter tires, alloy wheels, and sport suspension.
In 1991, you could only get a "Nite" truck in a regular cab F150. In 1992, you could get it in any style F150 (styleside, supercab, etc.) in addition to the Bronco. These trucks came with either a 302 (5.0L) or 351 (5.8L) V8, and in either 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive.
Here is a quote from the 1992 Ford Truck brochure:
"The XLT Lariat 'nite' truck is available in the regular cab or supercab 4x2 or 4x4 with the 302 as standard. Its dressed out in raven black with special bodyside tape stripes and forged aluminum deep-dish wheels...The nite model interior includes a choice of colors-dark charcoal, scarlet red or cyrstal blue, a sliding rear window, "nite" nomenclature on the instrument panel and special "nite' floor mats."
I didn't have any thing on my instrament panel, but the XLT symbol was changed to say "nite" in a special setup with the blue and purple colors with a black background.
Basically the nite is all black, everything black black black black.
The mirriors are black, the bumpers are black, there is NO chrome on the truck at all.
My 91's headlight trim was NOT the same as the regular. it was not roundish it was an odd banding, that looked special. unforunatly i didn't get "special" price on ebay for it.
A member on here has some NITE floor mats he wants to get rid of.
The decals are unavailable.
I was informed the engine was spruced up, but am not positive on this, however my 91 was really fast. I explain it as a pre lightning package.
if your looking for the floor mats, I'll tell obrecht to get ahold of you. he has a 92 extended cab.
Thank you everyone for your responses. The Ford dealership confirmed the headlight housing as being different to the regular F-150 (rounded). The grille should be the same size, just black.
I've got a 92 Nite reg cab flareside 2wd. Good amount of pics in my gallery. PM me if you need more or of something specific.
I honestly haven't looked that closely at the headlight trim to notice if it was at an angle or not.
Also, I'm not the original owner on my truck, but the backs of the side mirrors are chrome. Not sure if that is factory original or not. I've seen pics of Nites with both blacked out mirrors and chromed mirrors.
I thought that it was pretty odd that they'd black out everything but the mirrors. I've been keeping my eyes peeled at the junkyard for a set of black ones. Just haven't seen any yet worth grabbing.
