Not sure about the noise, but everyone I know that had the o/d light flash-myself included- ended up having tranny rebuilt. I didn't want to admit it at first, so I had the local e4od gurus reset the codes for me several times only to prolong the inevitable. They actually humored me a lot longer than I expected. The first reset lasted about 30 miles, and got progressively shorter and shorter till it would light up about 50 yds. out of their parking lot. Maybe you'll have better luck.

If the O/D light is flashing, you have a transmission-related fault code.

Use an OBD-II scanner capable of reading manufacturer-specific DTCs to get started on figuring it out. Most cheap scanners will not read many of these codes.

Remove the VSS (Vehicle speed sensor)on the top of rear differential and clean the stuff off. It's magnetic and may have too much metalic particles stuck to it. If that doesn't work see if it hase power to it and that it creates a signal. It tells the tranny when to shift and for the speedo.

Change out the trans fluid and filter.

The sensor has a few different names RABS (Rear antilock brake snesor) ABS (Antilock Brake sensor) but it does the same function. Search these forums for more info.

The noise you hear is the EBPV (Exhaust Back Pressure Valve). You can unplug it but it helps the engine warmup faster. The plug is located under the turbo on the driverside. It's a 2 wire connector.

OK,
Her what I got from the tester. It says P0472 ( exhaust presure sensor Curcuit Low input.) and code P1728 Transmission slipping. Again I dont know where the exhaust presure sensor is to check it out. Do you guys think transmission problem can be caused by the sensor.

No, the EBPV sensor won't make the trans slip. Flush the tranny fluid like stated b4 but you likely will need a rebuid IMO.

The EBPV is located on the front of the engine it may be plugged with soot.

I replaced my VSS about a month ago. The speedometer has settled back to normal and the O/D light has not flashed since the replacement was installed.

Change the fluid and filter. You might as well put on a new tranny pan gasket. I hope the VSS replacement will work for you like it did for me. Transmission was not rebuilt. I currently have 113,000 miles on the engine and transmission.
