Do FORD manual hubs come apart for maintenance? Please help with instruction on how to disassemble, clean, and relube the FORD brand manual hubs on my '95 F-150. Would also like to know which lube is suggested. I have had these hubs out to inspect. They where dealer installed about 4 years ago by the previous owner. Thanks RZ
If you are haveing hub issues, you might want to just change them out for warn hubs.
They suggest you dont really "grease" the hubs, just spray like wd-40 in them or someting simmilar.
I can explain how to tear appart warn hubs, but I'm not sure about factory hubs.
They do come off though. And i immagine they come appart.
If you are goign to clean, use break cleaner so you dont leave any residue.
And then spray them down.
I put a "little" grease on where the splines go together so they dont freeze up. The rest i sprayed with pb blaster.
Thanks for the info. I have no problem removing the manual locking hubs from the wheel hubs, thanks for the diagrams. I would like to take the actual removed hubs apart to clean up, regrease, and reinstall. I have the 3 mount screws FORD (light weight) type hubs. They have a white plastic retainer that faces toward the inside of the wheel when installed. This plastic retainer appears to be non removable without breaking it. These hubs don't look like WARN hubs I remember seeing with my limited experience. Maybe they don't come apart?? thanks for the replys, RZ
