Have a C 6 in my 66 with a 352. Truck sat too long and now it's slipping. I think I want to either rebuild this myself or drop another 1 in it. Any thoughts on a kit or does anyone have a lead on another tranny?
If it sat for a great length of time the fluid has probably drained from the convertor.
If this happens the fluid can be dumped on the ground from the breather, lever, filler, speedo connection seals.
The convertor will refill itself just by running the engine.
Make sure the breather is clear and the fluid level is proper.
i have not done one yet, but have heard many people say a C6 is so easy to rebuild a 10 year old can do it.
get a good kit, and a factory service manual if you can. the book will tell you everything you need to know to do it properly.
sticks reading full. If I have a rebuild I'll probably have a mechanic do it. I've never tore into a tranny. Motors and parts replacing is my specialty. As long as the motor is an old one.
