header help?

Looking for some headers, and wondered about which size 1 3/4 inch or 1 5/8 would be better for my application. I run a 78 4x4 400m and want the most torque possible any help is greatly appreciated thanks

1 5/8" will give a bit better torque than the larger ones.

Just so you know.

No M after 400.

It is 351M/400 engines.

The larger the pipe the more the echo type sound there is.

I don't remember the part number but I had installed a set of FlowTech headers on a 78 one time. I ran 2.25 galvanized pipes out the sides with a Flowmaster on each side. I sounded REALLY good and drew a lot of attention. Check out the FlowTech brands. They are considerably cheaper than most brands and hold up just as good. If I remember right I only paid about $112-$120 for the set.
