I'm getting ready to change my header gaskets again, i'm thinking of either going with the mr. gasket copper ones or the mr. gasket dead-soft aluminum. They have been blowing out on me about every 6 months so i want to try something that may last a little longer. I keep check on the bolts and how tight they are and the headers on the truck are only 6 months old. Which style gasket would yall prefer, and who's had any luck with em? Any help or suggestions are much appreciated.
I switched to copper header gaskets after changing the paper ones every 3 mos for 3 years (pima)!. NO problems with them at all. I ran them on my factory engine with cast iron heads and steel headers for 1 year, and have had them(same gaskets) on my new engine with aluminum heads and the same headers for 6 mos. In my experience they do not blow out and I believe if they get old and brittle you could just anneal them to soften them up again. Got mine off ebay. I do not regret buying them at all. Cheaper in the long run than paper gaskets.
