Help With Tuner Programmer. No Bite In Chip Section
am new to this hope I do it the right way. Need some help in picking the best programmer for my f 350 2002 7.3 have a 4 in .sky jacker lift and 3 gauges I installed last week egt ,trans temp ,and boost{ by isspro } & Air raid air filter, will be adding a 4" turbo back exhaust not sure what type yet .it has 35 x 12.50 x16.50 on weld rims main goal is get speedometer as close to correct as I can by the programmer ,only tow two atv on 16ft trailer best guess no more than 3000lbs.{I know a lot of truck for such little weight } my gift to me. Wife now drives the z 71 1994 so I had to do it. HA HA. This is a great web site helps out a lot. I am not a mechanic. Just a fair parts changer. The more I read about the programmers the more I got confused, as to what to get any help would be great on what works and what don’t. Exhaust help would be fine also.
The best thing on a 7.3 is a chip, easy install, switch on the fly... There are many differant tuners out there that can set you up. There is no programer on the market at this time that can reprogram our speedos. Some say they can and then you get them and they say "feature not supported".
About the only thing you can do there is get a superlift truespeed, it intercepts the code and recalaprates it to the new tire size. Also Ford can (and dont let them tell you they cant!) reprogram tire size up to 35"...
I'm not sure which tuner on the market currently has the ability to calibrate speedo for different tire sizes. I've read that the HyperPac by Hypertech can do it but I don't have first hand experience. If you take a look at their chart here, it does say it can do "Tire only" for 99-03 7.3 Superduties whatever that means:
Another (Better I think but more $$$) way to go is get a 4-6 position DP-Tuner chip and use something like the Superlift TruSpeed to correct your speedometer: http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=587
My neighbor just got the hyperpac, he is going to come over today so I can help install the pyro... I will look and see if that function is supported. But the hyperpac is BIG $$$ more then a chip and superlift truespeed.
I talked to the lady there on the phone got some information she told me they are moving to Georgia in late summer. I may wait to bring my truck there in person and have them help me set it up. Thank you.
the SC give lots of power, but oh h3ll just get a Dp you'll see . the power is more balenced, the shifts are firm, quick and smooth, and the 120 and 140 hp tunes are awsome. I tore out my first trans with a SC installed it may have been just luck of the draw but it left a bad taste in my mouth.
went to there website seemed alittle confusing. i only need a 3 stage set-up. im really lost. what would the best way to go wit this DP-Tuner? im really appreciating the help here. haha
you realy need to talk to Jody and tell him what you want and what you've done as far as mods he will not steer you to truck destruction I went with the no start, stock, 40 tow, 60 tow, 80 econo, 100 hp, 120 race and 140 agressive"smoke file". the 140 is great but it and my stageII injectors run out of oil and stumble at WOT, my next mod is a dual HPOP from bts
