Stereo Trim Removal
1.) In my truck I ran an aux cable to the back of my head unit so I can listen to the Sat through the aux fuction instead of the fm modulator. I assume since dad's 04 has an aux button on the radio it has this function too?
2.) In my truck I bought an additional cig lighter jumped it off the fuse and hid it under the dash so I didn't have a a plug and wire insight on my dash. Dad would not be comfortable with me doing something like this in his truck. So I am figuring on running the power cord under the carpet to the power outlet in the back. I am thinking this should be pretty easy, do ya'll think it might be harder than I'm thinking? I know in my 97 anything I wanna take off I just have to yank on it hard enough as it all just pops together, is his 04 the same?
Does anyone have any pics of their Sat install in their 04 gen trucks?
Thanks for helpin out a 97 owner!
But, there are aux input adapters now ( after 3 years) that talk to the 2004+ radio's CANBus communication protocol ( unique)
PIE makes one ( about $90)
make sure you get the right part number (FORD04CANAUX) or something like that.
this "T" 's into the main radio harness
to take the front bezel off. open the ashtray. and tug quickly at the bottom of the radio bezel with two hands to pull the bottom two clips off
there are a total of 3 pairs of spring clips to pull loose
unplug the airbag off light at the top and the bezel will swing to the side to get at the radio etc.
I have had mine off 10+ times. no cracking or marking
just don't forget to plug the airbag light back in after reinstall.
