Headlight Switch replacement

I need to replace the switch in the dash in my '03 F150, How?
The part I picked up from wreckers is switch with bracket.

Lamp Switch — Headlamp Printable View (41 KB)
Removal and Installation

Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301). For additional information, refer toSection 414-01.
CAUTION: Do not use a screwdriver to remove the headlamp switch or damage to the finish panel may occur. Adding tape to the end of a thin tool will reduce marring to the finish panel.

Insert a thin tool to remove the headlamp switch.

Disconnect the electrical connectors.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Did they change them in '03? The way mine works is you pull the switch handle off reverse it, put it back on and turn to release the clips, it is a major PITA but is a neat way they integrated everything together.

Well, I thought I had read different instructions on here for removing the switch but my post was copied directly from the FORD 2003 manual. You made me go back an make sure I checked the correct year ........ I did.

I guess they did change. You're correct for the '97 shown below without the pictures.

Lamp Switch — Headlamp

Removal

Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301).

Turn the headlamp switch **** to the headlamp position and pull the ****.

Insert a thin tool to release the headlamp switch **** and remove.

Turn the headlamp switch **** 180 degrees and install.

Turn counterclockwise until the back of the headlamp switch **** is in the off position.

Turn the headlamp switch **** clockwise fully.

Remove the headlamp switch.
Pull headlamp switch from instrument panel.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Installation

NOTE: When the battery (10655) is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive system may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

I installed fog lights in my 2003 F150, and had to change out the factory headlight switch with a switch that had the fog light switch feature. The first post is how mine came out. I used a thin screwdriver with a rag covering the tip to prevent any damage to the dash opening.
