run dont run

Well i have posted this a few times now and i think i am jsut going to have to take it into the shop. YUCK! The truck still when you turn on the key yo uwill hear the pump go on but it jsut turns over then if you wait it will give the pump sounds again (could be 10 sec or 10 min) then it will start. You could be driving and it will jsut die and you will have to wait till you hear the pump go on again and it will run again. could run for days no problems then all of a sudden problems every time you go to drive it. I have changed the pump. I have changed the relays. I ahve checked the inertia switch. I have had the throttle body cleaned and the filter changed. I am out of ideas. I am open to anything else someone might think it is. Oh and the other day it dies but started right back up and then it dies with in a few seconds (about 30) then the engine light came on and stayed on for about 4 or 5 hours then turned itself off. Not sure that makes a difference. First time the light has gone on though since this started happening. So i am open to anything people might think it is. Help Please i do not want to take it in....

On my 89 Eb I was having similiar problems and it was my TFI Ignition Module attached to the side of the distributor. Mine would sometime run for weeks or months before it acted up but when it died, it would always start back up after no more than 20 minutes of sitting. It has been almost 18 months since I replaced the module and it runs like a top.

I am not as technical as I wish I was but I can give advice based on my real life problems that I have had with my Bronco.

Hope this helps.

Frank,

Thank you for your input i will look at that tonight. My only question is would that cause the pump in back to make noice if it was not working. See this is why i am so confused. I know when it will start wheni here the pump for the second time go on. So would the TFI control when it get power?
