Ok guru's.. Does anyone know where I can find Diesel Kleen (Gray Bottle) in bulk? Advance here has like 1s and 2s.. I'm talking cases.. Do we have any retail supporters that can get it in bulk? I'm thinkin like a case or two..
Corporal, I just picked up a bottle at wal-mart and they had both the white and grey bottles on the shelf, they also had unopened cases there, I hope this helps. Have a good day!
Can't help on DK, but I would reccomend that you check out Stanadyne, it's the only OEM approved additive by Ford. Our site has lots of info on it if you want to read thru it.
Yet again, I have to differ with you on this Mark. Stanadyne is not the only Ford OEM approved fuel additive. Ford has it's own private label. And Stanadyne is merely mentioned as a recommendation in the last TSB / BM I have seen relating to fuel additives.
Please show and tell...Don't leave us hanging here. We, I, need something to support this "It's the only OEMapproved..." statement. Statements like this imply that Ford could void a warranty if something else was used. Including their own private label additive.
Actually, IMO, they have called out other additives...in a nameless sort of way.
Lacks or Loses Power in Cold Temperatures: This may be due to fuel gelling or moisture freezing and reducing fuel flow. It is recommended to use a fuel conditioner, such as Stanadyne Performance Formula, to prevent this condition. Do not use conditioners that contain alcohol. Broadcast Message 0436.
Cold Temperature Lack of Power, Poor Economy, Hard Start, Excessive White Smoke: This could be due to gelling of the fuel, formation of ice in the fuel tanks or lines or poor fuel quality. If diagnosis finds no cause for the above symptoms, try using a fuel conditioner, such as Stanadyne Performance Formula or equivalent, that will improve the cetane level of the fuel. Do not use any product containing alcohol. If the conditions improve with the additive, then find another fuel source or continue to treat the fuel. Broadcast Message 1309, 1464; SSM #17406.
In these Ford Broadcast Messages they do clearly suggest Stanadyne....but, they are not product specific.
However, with that said: It has been reported here but, not yet confirmed, that Ford has also issued a proclamation that their private label fuel additive is now the only one approved by them. Again, this has not been confirmed here at FTE.
It has also been rumored that their private label additive is a Stanadyne supplied formulation. Rumored, Not confirmed.
kw5413, I think you answered both your questions. At least you did for me anyway. The broadcast says "such as" Stanadyne Performance Formula, not "limited to". But i can see ford getting a good enough discount from stanadyne to label it for themselves and making money, and since that broadcast starting a rumor about stanadyne being the only oem. As it reads if the brand you choose does'nt have alcohol then its alright. Ford might for personal gain reasions like stanadyne better.
Anybody know the chemical differences in DK and stanadyne?
I got some coupons from Ford yesterday. They only want $7.95 for a bottle of it. That's the discount price. It looks like 20 oz since it says it's will treat 125 gallons. So, two bucks extra for putting their name on it. When you lose $12.5 billion you better get creative, I guess.
aaaaaaare you saying that the Ford product is $2.00 more than the stanadyne? I'm not following cause you said the $2.00 was a discount price w/ a coupon so really they are making more than $2.00 and do we know how they are buying it for from stanadye?
