2000' f-350 super-Duty diesel, automatic. Truck started to slip between 4th and 5th. Then lost overdrive altogether. Transmision shop said it sounds like it could be the torque converter. I have the truck Chipped, he said the standard torgue converters can't handle the extra horsepower. Ever since installing the chip I get intermittent trouble codes. Usually a 3-4 shift error or exhaust gas control high input. The chip is a 'Superchip'. I was running it in the 'Tow-Performance' mode. Anyone experience problems similar to this.
your 2000 truck has a 4r100 trans and from what you state. to me you have sufferdd from a clutch pack failer. inside there are may things that can and do go wrong with the 4r100 esp. the early ones.
i would reccormend a rebuild in a min.of a stage 2 and a billit convertor for what you are doing and playing with.
