A few days ago, my 2000 F-350's CEL came on, and starting running a bit rough, like maybe 1-2 injectors were stuck. I checked the code that came up (P1316), and contacted by buddy at Ford. Say's it the IDM circuit having an issue. Perhaps the IDM itself, or some injectors.
I've been frantically going thru old posts, and have come up with the preliminary conclusion that it's the UVC harness connector. I'm going to open that up tomorrow to check.
Our weather (central Washington state), has been fairly cold for the last month. I don't know if this will contribute to the problem or not, but when the truck gets warm, then the problem seems to go away, until it's cold again.
Just need some comfirmation to know if I'm out in left field or not.
If you can do a CCT, Buzz, and KOEO test with your scanner you may be able to pull those IDM Codes. The UVC harness is a likely culprit though and is easy enuff to check.
Just fixed mine.. same problem, same code.. It was a loose 9 pin connector just under the valve cover on the driver side... The plastic locking tabs are a poor design.. I just put a shim under the tabs to fix it.. Other people have bought Ford's fix, which is a plastic clip... Good Luck..
One other question that I have. Has anyone had any experience with this issue repeating itself? How long did it take? The reason I ask, is that I only pushed the plug all the way back in under the valve cover. I'm not sure when I'll get back to it.
It can work its way back out if you did not use the "new clips" Ford sells but who knows how long. They are farely cheap from international, maybe get a set and keep them in the glove box for when it comes back.
