We have a black lab pit mix and she uses her head to attack you first she will make you throw one of her toys until you have no strength or feeling in your arms and then she will move in for the kill and lick you until you are a inch from death.
A buddy of mine had a pit, he died a few months ago. This dog was so friendly and had a great personality. His most favorite things in life were eating mangos (right off the tree) and putting his head in your lap and taking a nap. He never so much as chased the 4 cats that shared the house with him.
I have a friend that works in animal control. She spends most of her time investigating pit bull complaints in the hood.
We do have a problem pit bulls here in florida. There's a story in one of the areas papers just about every week about a pit bull attack. A lot has to do with the owners. Most attacks are from animals on the loose.
A breed will get a bad rep when you hear the stories of them attacking kids, that just happened last week in this area, meter reads and so on.
It's so bad, in florida, that dade county has outlawed pit/pit mix/anything that looks like a pit, ownership.
I know my home owners insurance company requires $1,000,000 accident coverage if you own a pit. And if they find out you have one and don't have the coverage, they will drop you.

My wife and I just got back from visiting our two local animal shelters. We went to them in search of a companion dog for our goofy golden. It was disturbing to see how many pitbull/pitbull mix dogs were in those shelters. Most were OGU's. ... (owner give ups)

Here is Sunny's (our female golden retreiver ) new buddy we picked up at the shelter . The blue box to his right is 14 inches tall. He is too thin and has ribs and hip bones portruding now from not being fed enough. ..
He weighs 48 pounds and is 2 1/2 years old. He is now sick with kennel cough, but the vet said the steroid pills he gave us to give him, should stop the coughing/vomiting in about 4 days.
We got his name from the board here, since his color resembles the color of diesel fuel. He is a german shepherd /mix but we cannot tell what the other mixes are. His tail curls over his back like a Husky and he prances on the tips of his toes when he trots . Anyone know what the other "mix" is ?
