Switched to manual steering...what to do about belt/pump pulley?
I converted to manual steering on a 88 1/2 ton 302 and I am not sure what to do about the belt. If I run a shorter belt (the easiest thing to do) then water pump to belt contact drops a bit and it will be prone to slip.
What I would really like to do is come up with an idler pulley to put in place of the pump but I can't seem to come up with anything.
Any ideas on how to fab one??
Suggestions??

ok i haven't looked into how the pump is bolted to the block but could a a/c compressor bypass pulley such as motormite part number 34150 work?

The link does not seem to work for me.
No the AC eliminator pulley will not work without drastic modification and fabrication. It would be easier to fabricate a pulley and bracket from scratch...
