Okay, right now I have a BorgWarner 1345, or what ever the earlier model was. It is mounted behind a C6 with a 460 to come soon in front of that. I want to have a transfer case that will be able to withstand the extra torque of the big block, and don't think that this chunk of aluminum will take it, besides, it offers a good oppertunity for another part of the project. Anyways, this transfer case is on its way out, it won't go into low range, and likes to torque bind in 4WD even in mud. I was wondering if an NP205 will be a direct bolt on? If it is, will my driveshafts still fit, or will I need to find new ones the right length (shorter, longer)? If anyone has done this swap, does the factory linkage still hook up? I want to have everything (wishful thinking) ready to be installed in one lump project.
The 1345 is a STOUT unit and was used without many problems behind 460s & diesels. I don't think a 205 will bolt up, so I'd recommend fixing what you have or getting a direct replacement.
