Exclamation It's not looking good for ford

Read the local news paper this morning and came across this "Analysts GM, Ford on opposite ends". It says that ford is at its most annual loss in 103 years. They lost almost $10 billion last year. It also says that if they dont do good this year that they are going to file bankruptcy (pardon my spelling) And close the doors. I sure hope the new SD sell like crazy or its hello dodge (again) for me.........

GM lost 10.6 billion a year ago. There still around. Thats just an analyst for you. The same one said GM was gone a year ago. For everybodies info GM lost twenty billion in 1992. These analysts are paid to say something so there you have it. Does the analyst know the whole internal workings off Ford. Only the top leaders off Ford no whats going on. Sad to say people think Toyota is infallible an buy there vehicles. Pretty sad really. Ford has excellent vehicles that exceed anything Toyota is putting oput right now. I

In its 103 year history Ford has had its share off down times an always pulled out. I just wonder if people really care if Ford goes under or not. Gloom an doom seem to be the name off the game whenit comes to the Big 3. Im really sick off it. That analyst probably drives Toyotas an Hondas so he could care less. This loss was not toally unexpected with the cost off buyouts an such as as slower truck sales the numbers add up. Like I said Gm lost 10.6 billion a year ago. People have short memories. Ford is a year behind GM in its turnaround. If you people want ford to be around then you better buy a new Ford then a Toyota or foreign brand. Ford beats Toyota in many area right now. But people have the Toyota blinders on. Just my 2 cents.

Ford will not close the doors next year. Ask yourself a question, how the heck does Ford lose $1900 for every car its sells? When most cars sells in the 25-40K range? They have to free themselves from extremely difficult contracts with current and former employees. The retirement and healthcare benefits are very extreme. They agreed on the contract so they are in a bind. The Japanese how build in this country learned from the lessons of Ford and GM. Dont get bound by unreasonable contracts.

contracts are part of the problem i agree and i have just bought my first superduty ever and it is only my second ford so still on the fence, ford or gm both have there ups and downs but if american would buy one or the other instead of the foriegn crap then they would not be in this problem (also had an accord at 100000 miles had piston slap sold the car for price of the repair). but in my opion the other main reason for decline in sales is the darn economy and the da!! gas prices at the pump it does come into some consideration when buying a truck because we are all thinking of how we can save a buck so we can spend or sve for somthing else lets be realistic in new york the price foe 87 octane is 235 a gallon at 10-13 mpg this would and could make it hard yo buy a large truck and every one knows that that is were fords real sales come from is there trucks just my thoughts

If Ford ended up having to close it's doors were all going to be in trouble. You can rest assured before that happens, they would get a government bailout just like Chrysler did. Ford can and will pull out of this on it's own in due time. My other half is getting itchy for a new car and wanted to look at Honda and Toyota. I told her that she could look for whatever she liked as long as it had a blue oval on it or was owned by the blue oval. She looked at and liked the Lincoln MKZ so more than likely at some point this year one will be bunkin next to the F-350 in the garage.

TOTAL BS...A TYPICAL Left Wing Media Pipe Dream!!

Do a little research on Ford's restructuring plan...Ford expects to lose money in 2007 and 2008, but be profitable in 2009/2010.

Actually you might need to see the poll results of PSD owners and their age, it tells quite a different story about the economy.

i don't know about the economy in other states just here in upstate new york were most people are only making between 20-30 thousand a year no lie and all the company's are moving out faster than you can amagine while haf to 3 quarters of are money is going to new york city and the other half to welfare reform while the gas prices are on the rise like ever were else no to mention here in new york the businesses that are left depend on snow for the winter for business and i have about 2-3 inches on the ground where on the norm there is about 3-4 possible for snow fall so the trucks at the dealers or cars are not selling at our local ford dealer this last month they sold a total of 2 vehicles for the total month of december rite from the salesmans mouth all of the examples i have stated are partialy from there stand point as well as mine

Ford lost nearly 10 billion here in the US. They made multi-billions world wide. Ford isnt going anywhere. They are expecting to lose money through 2009 and then turn around after that. Its part of their restructuring.

Most of us read a similar article. Interestingly enough, Ford has something like 38 BILLION dollars in the bank and expects to lose half of their nest egg or say $19 Billion during 2008. I could be off a billion, but as that would be less than 3%, well within the margin of error allowed !!!!

Anyway, like most readers here, I would like a 2008 King Ranch SD F - 350 trading my 2005 F-350 F x 4 King Ranch, but early prices quoted are insane. As I see it, with the 3% hold back, and the 3% blue oval dealer discount, Ford's trouble is with it's dealer network, and of their own making.

IMHO, time Ford says to the dealers, kill the cow and the milk is gone! If the second 19 billion goes, so does the blue oval.

And finally, isn't it odd that INTERNATIONAL will be putting on a push for it's own SD pickup called MXT with a GVWR of 14,000. How about a Ford/Navistar marriage? I would feel more comfortable with the 6.4.

No way Ford can blame the economy on their problems - the national economy is strong - just look at the indicators. And as Ryan said in a post above, check out the poll in the 6.0 PSD forum about the average age of owners. They are YOUNG and buying $40,000 trucks. Can't do that in a bad economy.

Yes, there are probably regional areas where things are tough (like the post about NY), but overall the US economy is very good and if Ford can't make money in this economy then they've got real problems when we get a downturn. I agree that it's their union contracts that are killing them.

I dont see it that way, anyone here have a clue about workin the line in a assy plant?
Not that I know but just how much do other jobs pay compared to the UAW-Ford?
I would think there is a lot of other higher paying jobs that dont require
the aggravation & stress of working on a assy line.
Not that other jobs dont require effort or stress but I can asure you it's
no play day at the big factory!
Then again this is the USA, it's ok to have a decent paying job.
Yes our benefits are great, but $26-$27 hr seem unfair?
Ford has simply let the big picture slip away and is working hard to get things
back in focus, yes we are finally near hitting bottom, the future is bright!
The big loss we all here about is throwing it all out on the table, the plan
is to spend money to make money.
Ford has all sorts of new things to offer, we anit dead yet!
Stay tuned!

Ford should kill the low profit items that nearly the same amount to build. Guess what, the Trucks won't be first items to go!

Most jobs aren't that much different (they all have pluses and minuses), but if people are doing the same job for less, you might still be getting paid too much. I don't pretend to know.

But, it's like my brother told me a long time ago. People don't get paid what they are worth, they get paid what they can get paid.
