Opinions Wanted - '05 Modified Grille & Lights or Bumper Too?

I kind of wanted to get some opinions from you all. I'm starting to get things together to change the look on the front of my truck. But, I can't decide on what would look best, so I wanted to see what some opinions were. The lights are a given, but I can't decide if I should get a modified '05 grille or not.

Here's what I'm considering;

Option 1 - Modified grille, cut down to clear the stock bumper on our trucks, keeping the stock bumper for a semi-newer look.
-or-
Option 2 - New unmodified '05+ grille and '05+ bumper, giving the complete newer look.

I know that ultimately it's my truck and I should do what I want, but I keep going back and forth. I'm leaning toward Option 2 as of tonight; this morining I was leaning toward Option 1.

Your opinions are welcome.

My opinion is that I want your checkbook.

Since I don't have that, either one is a great option because that new grill is the cats a$$ compared to what I have. I don't really have a prob with our bumper so that may save a $ or two.

I'm going with the 05 grill and new head lights, My 99 oem bumper is still in great shape so I'm keeping it.

I have to say that since you are a true FTEnthusiast, go ahead and do it all the first time. Yes it costs more, and it will push those injectors back some, but me as well, i want to push the engine build back some so i can get the whole frontend. I want a billet stock-style chrome grille with Harley Headlights and a bumper painted to match. Those newer bumpers are so much nicer looking. They add color to the front end too, because that trim piece goes all the way from the fenders all the way across. I'd say that if you just got the grille this time, you would want the bumper in the future, you'd be stuck selling the grille to someone, and then end up buying the whole deal eventually. Get the chrome tow hooks too, you won't regret that. I saw a place on the net the other day (i think PSS) that was selling the whole frontend deal for $1200 or $1300.

The other day I installed an 05 grille on mine while keeping the 01 bumper. I took it off shortly there after. Too much chrome in one spot for me. That big grille fefinitely needs the 05 bumper's painted top to break up the "chromeness" on the frontend.

I was going to do the 05 swap, but I'm happy with just upgrading to the clear 02 lights..... It looks better IMO, PLUS it was cheaper. If I had the cash to spend I'd do the whole 05 front, but unfortunately I don't.

I now have the modified 05 grille for sale. PM me for details....

I only did the new 05 grille on both of my pick-up's and like the look. I have the clear lights so have no intentions of changing anything there. The thing I would like to do but don't have bucks, time and patiences, is to put the turn signal lights on the tow mirrors....probably won't happen though.

I did it all, but I think that if I had to do it again, even if insurance was footing most of the bill, I'd leave the old bumper. By the time you replace all the bumper brackets and fog light brackets and liscense plate bracket and the lower valance, and get the upper valance painted etc.. A lot of hassle. Check out my pics, and I'm sure someone out there has pics of the setup with the 01 style bumper also. But the grille and headlights?? HELL YEAH!

I would either keep the stock bumper, or get an aftermarket one. On our 06 at work, the bumper looks too cheesey, i think if you hit a bird it would taco the whole thing into a crumbled piece of paper. We used to play bumper tag, with all of out 99-03 trucks, and you wouldnt know by looking at them, but i would be afraid to do that with the 06 bumper. just my thoughts, i really like my tjm bumper.
Heres a picture of it, i dont have a picture of it on my truck, but its the same concept, just my truck is white.

Thanks for all your opinions. Some good points have been made for both ways. The conversion (whichever way I decide to go) wont' be done for a while. I'm starting to piece together all the pieces, a little at a time as money allows.

I think the Harley lights would look good too. If I went that route, I'd probably do the whole Harley front end. I think those lights look best with the black framed grille. That would be more expensive and take longer to get the pieces put together since you don't see many of those parts avaialbe.
