Generator gearbox

I just bought a 10kw generator head that I would like to drive from my tractor pto. The generator needs to run at 3600 and standard pto speed is 540rpm. Some generators come with a gearbox to increase the speed but mine didn't and although I could use pulleys I'd prefer a gearbox. Any ideas on where I can find one? Tried Hub City, Dodge, and ebay so far.

Thanks

Why not just run it off the engine directly?

How are you going to control engine speed to control your voltage and frequency?

Try Northern Tool. They used to have a PTO drive for generators. Like this:

I have not used them, tho.

I checked out your link but that includes the generator. What I'm looking for is just the gearbox part of that. I've already purchased the generator section. I even tried to see if I could find who suppies Northern with their generators and components thinking I could just buy the gearboxbox but no luck.

As for running off the engine it is a diesel tractor and redlines at about 3000 rpms.

I had an old Northern catalog, which had a PTO gearbox for a genny (without the genny part). It looked similar to the picture in the link I referenced as an example. You may want to e-mail/call Northern to see if they still carry it or can get it.

Match the engine speed with the pulleys.

Engine speed 1800RPM - 1:2 -Generator 3600RPM, very simple and way cheaper than a gearbox.

Check the generator head, it may even run at 1800RPM depending on how it is wound.

Torque1st - I appreciate the suggestions but I'd rather not use pulleys and I don't have a way of driving anything directly off the engine since it's still in the tractor. PTO is really the only output I have available.
