There is a Torino site out there (I forgot the URL) that has a VIN Decoder. I have a copy of the original Shop Manuals for 1978. If you will either post the VIN or email it to me I may be able to do it. It isn't really that difficult.
>heres the Vin for my truck
>7A48S1299019 i believe that is correct.
> thanks for the help
7 is for 1977
A48 is the Body Serial Code: I only have the car numbers so no help there.
S is the engine code (400-2V)
The book lists the last six digits as the Consecutive Unit number built at that plant. On the trucks this may be a 7 digit number.
There is more info on the door sticker. Along the bottom is a series of codes that show (in order) Body Type, Color, Trim, Tranny, Axle, and District.
