DP Installation instructions?

Does anyone by chance have a link to the installation instructions for the dp tuner. I was hoping that Jody was going to get the chance to email them to me so I can get a basic plan for when I get it on Monday, But, having just gone through the whole building a house thing myself recently, I'm can see where a person could get really busy really fast. Anyway, if anyone could hook me up I'd appreciate it.

What kind of "rattle" are we talking about? This is the first I remember anyone saying about a rattle

some call it a rattle...i like to think of it as more a agresive sound..when you switch to higher setting the diesel rattle gets a little louder do to the timming advance and added fuel...

I got a bit more rattle, especially in the higher tunes. The stock is from what I remember pretty quiet...the 60tow is about the same...the 80 econ is a little louder but when you get on it, it really rocks and knocks....and the lope idle sounds like dragging an anchor chain down the road....and the truck shakes like a NEXTEL cup car. Prett radical. I looked at the links yall mentioned for installing the chip. Does anyone know why the connection where you plug the chip in is covered with the silicone or whatever it is? It is obvously not used till you stick a chip there and I was just wondering what it's original use was if any....and to continue the off topic rambles... My doors were locking and unlocking like before the new cable. I took the fuse out of my remote start and it stopped. It was the remote start all along....Problem solved...but now I am without remote start..will figure it out later..but for now..ROCK ON JODY!!!

Thanks Mike, that link worked fine. And being the actual DP instructions helped more. I got to the other page, but it was for another chip. It looks like the only things I'm gonna need is a 7mm socket, a 10mm socket, swivel (because that bottom connector is too close to the wheelwell), and some duct tape. I like it. If you can't fix it with duct tape, it can't be fixed

That would drive me crazy, listening to all that extra rattle.
If these trucks had an injection pump I would be coming right back into the shop to back off the timing!!!

Dave,

The J3 port back in the day was used for Ford to flash the PCM. It was also used for them to create strategies or calibrations.

Scar's situation with his "rattle" didn't start until it started getting really cold out. He had his Van Aaken chip reprogrammed last March and used it all this time with no rattle issues. Until it started getting really cold in his area. With diesel's moderate cold "rattle" is a normal effect to some degree. But his truck did not sound normal at all. This issue is being addressed.

Diane, thanks a bunch for letting me know. Since I had sent yall the box whole, I had never seen the insides of it before I put the new cable on. I figured it was where the old chip was and yall put a new chip in its place. Now I know its purpose. I guess the F5 is an "add on" to the regular system rather than a replacement? Looking forward to a mount for the box too. I am trying to design something from my end, but any suggestions are welcome. Keep up the great work and I will send you business when I can..

Thanks Dave!

The chip actually overrides the factory settings until you take it off.

So if you ever sell the truck and want to keep the chip, just take it out and everything still works normally? That is also good to know...Thanks agian.
