Why? Unless you plan on exceeding the change interval as stated in the owners manual! The Motorcraft (factory oil) synthetic blend oil you can get at WalMart for a little over $2 per qt is really the way to go. Not only will it offer great protection and not hit your wallet hard, but between the MC oil and the Mobil 1 you will see no difference if you change as per the owners manual listed intervals for your driving style.
Mercedes and BMW spec synthetic oil only becuse they have high average change intervals, no other reason. Sometimes up to 15K miles between changes. They sample the drivers driving habits and compare it to a table in the ECM. When there is a match the change oil light comes on, Synthetic oil will maintain it's lube properties for a much longer time than dino oil. Synth blend provides the lube properties of synthetic witihin the standard change intervals.
