Gauges
I think a water temp gauge would be a better choice than a transmission gauge. I tow a 12,000 lb fifth wheel and have never seen my transmission gauge go over 190. These transmissions run cool even in hot weather and long climbs. But my truck did overheat after blowing about a gallon of water out after a 6 hour trip in 105 degree heat and the stock gauge gave me no warning at all. I plan to install a water and oil temp gauge next month. The rear axle in these trucks gets pretty hot after a long climb in the mountains too.

Joe (CSIPSD) is the main reason that the soon-to-be-released gauge system will support up to 16 simultaneous gauges.

Don't forget to do intake temperature as well. In counter to Randy777, I would do a tranny temp if your a hauler of heavy items. You just never know when your going to push it, so many variables that you can't count on that could make one load one day easy, but the same load with different weather or other circumstances make the truck work harder. I would be prepared and get a tranny temp(if you haul, if not don't worry about it). I go from mid. tn. back home to dallas and mid. tn to gloucester va. and I have encountered alot of different situations along the way towing horses, it's just better to spend a little now on prevention, then have to have a repair that cost a few grand because you had burnt tranny oil running thru your transmission and ruining the servos(I have had that happened to me, so I know of what I speak). But I am also planning on getting oil pressure and water temp gauges as well, so in that we are in agreement, however, I am going to try to stop at 7 gauges, although I can see where the addiction would be in them.
