the race cars in the forground or the non-Fodr Trucks in the background.
We had a discussion on the Trucks of the 50's and how they were used by Hotrodders.
As you can see by these photos from the era, there were very few mods made to the Trucks.
Again the N0n-Ford vehicles should be ignored.
I'm old enough to remember the 50's/60's (started driving in '57 legally) but my rememberer is not what it used to be.
As stated earlier it was rare to see a truck not being used as a truck and you very seldom saw one with any appreciable modifications done to it. I remember my Dad having a 50 Ch++y pickup and he put whitewalls on it and that was a big deal!
I love the photographs. It looks like their's three effies in that photo, how cool is that? When I look at my trucks, I always wonder what they did in their previous life. I'm sure they hauled a ton of stuff. I would like to think they were push trucks at the salt flats. One can dream...

My original '48 panel was used to haul some kind of race car way back. At least that's what I assume from the faded lettering , "White Stuckle Lounge Race Team, Des Plaines, Ill.", and the checkered flag painted on the side. Also there was a trailer hitch cobble welded onto the back bumper. From the damage to the roof and the left side of the truck I also assume it might have flipped while hauling a race car on a single axle car trailer used back then and the trailer suffered a blow out. This diffenately could have caused a roll over.
I have been trying to find the history of this truck but haven't been able to turn up anything. If one of Illinois board brothers know anything about this truck, or some one involved with racing in the Illinois area during the late '50s or early '60s, I would appreciate if you would contact me.

I can see an Ol Dirt Stock Car or an Early Sprint Car being towed behind your truck on a short two wheel trailer..
The year of the Truck and the area mentioned on the side fit right in.
