My question is that if you live in an urban city (Ex: Hollywood or New York), why would you need to lift your excursion? Don't get me wrong, I love anything lifted, but doesn't it prove to be a problem in an urban city?

California earthquakes - bug out readiness
New York - roads haven't been paved since the horse and buggy days. Picture washboards infected by pothole disease.

What's the ride like compared with stock? Did the kit level out your Ex? Anything you don't like about it?
The rough country 5" kit is about 100 bucks cheaper and of course 1" less lift.
Trying to compare the two.
I've been searching high and low for used V/B springs (outfits around here parting out trucks want around $400 for a set) but I don't think get I'll get a 5-6" lift with those. Maybe with blocks and shackles and leafs. By the time I find used springs, blocks, shackles, u bolts, and shocks, the kits are about the same price...
Thanks for any advice!

How do you like the zone offroad kit? Looks nice. Is it the Excursion 6" kit or did you get one made for one of the F series trucks?

The ride is decent but it is still very new. I expect the front springs to sag a little bit with more miles and soften up a little. Right now it rides very much like a truck. Very good ride but a little stiff for me. Keep in mind that I am coming from an IFS Toyota 4Runner, not a pickup. It rides nicer than the work truck, a 2007 Ram 3500 SRW Cummins (stock). The only bad thing I have to say about the ride is that it is a little stiff. However, if it were not as stiff it wouldn't hold a load. It's a trade off of a solid front axle, leaf sprung truck. It is a much better ride than stock.
The truck is fairly level. I have not measured but when it is parked on level ground it looks level front to rear.
The Rough Country kit has 5" rear blocks for the rear suspension. This is some of the difference in price. The Zone kit is an AAL out back put in the middle of the stock pack with a small block. To me, the more lift you get out of springs, the better off you are. You get a better and more progressive ride and better load handling, less stress on things, and less axle wrap.
My stock leaf packs were pretty shot. If I had to do it again I would try to find a set of lower mileage B/C code rear springs (whichever are about the same spring rate as our Ex packs, I forget which they are) and add the Zone AAl to that instead of to the stock Excursion pack. My leaf pack int he rear looks and feels fine but I would be more comfortable knowing I started with something that hadn't sagged to the ground already.
The install was pretty straight-forward but nothing you should attempt if you aren't well seasoned with a wrench. There were some things the instructions didn't mention and some shop tricks and tips that make things go a lot easier. Once you have put together about 20 leaf packs things tend to go a lot faster than the first time. It took myself and a friend 11 hours from driving the truck in to driving it out, and that was without a vehicle lift.
