engine cutting out
I have a 99 f-350 powerstroke it has about 240,000 miles on it. I let it warm up and drive it about 2 miles and it starts to cut out. its like it just shuts down for a split second then runs again when this happens a puff of blue smoke comes out the exhaust. just wondering where i should start looking.

welcome to the Boards! We need a bit more info on your truck. what kind of Tranny, any recent modifications, tuners, etc.
First guess according to your description is CPS, the cam position sensor. They go out often and most guys carry a spare. and, true to form, your symptom is what most of us have had to deal with.

I second what the Big Guy says - I had similar symptoms, without a SES light at first, and when the truck eventually died (i.e. wouldn't start at all) I got the SES light and the CPS was the problem. Replaced it with a $50 part from eBay and all was well!

That light will tell you what's going on. The two most likely culprits are the CPS or the UVC harness. If you have access to a code reader that is compatible with our trucks, then you can retrieve the code and go with the repairs from there. If not, it's a stab in the dark to repair, but it's usually a good idea to have a spare CPS anyway.
