I know they're not, but I would like to be able to take the on/off ramps at the posted speed, not half of, without feeling like I'm going to topple over like a Jeep...I mean a turtle...whatever...

What?!?!?! These aren't sports cars? I want my money back then. I thought the F in F-250 stood for Ferrari! I expected this 5000 pound nose heavy beast to handle just as well as my 2500 pound '82 RX-7, or my '87 Mitsubishi Starion. I am going to have to write to my Ford Rep and complain.

A rear sway bar also helps when you are towing a long/heavy trailer. It helps keep the trailer from "steering" the truck.

My 78 F150 4x4 does have a front and rear sway bar on it. Mine also has a factory 4 inch lift. It has been called a highboy more than once, because of the height. I have to keep reminding people highboys were 3/4 ton, Mine is a 1/2 ton.

A lot of people are mistaken about what the ....F15 (F-15) is in their VIN#

But, Now that Boeing may be a part of Ford, we should be able to start getting the real thing

Sounds like a very good part to have on your truck, especially so for those of us our there crusing around between gas stations with our 460's!

So, whenever I do have the time & money available to go ahead and install a new front sway bar on my 2WD 75 SuperCab. Where would be the most likely source to find this particular part available & how difficult of an installation would it be for a better than average driveway wrench head like me?

I may not be a very fast mechanic, however I do take a lot of pride in doing a job right the first time instead of doing it over again!

Any assistance would be gratefully accepted and sincerely appreciated!

Check the local junkyards for sway bars. Tha tis what I plan on doing when I decide (read that: can afford!) to do put sway bars on mine. If not, check the sponsor links here. i am sure somebody sells them. I would think it would be a relatively easy process. I have only installed one bar so far, and that was a Mustang GT bar on a V6 LX Mustang. Already had the holes in it, I just bolted it up

I installed a rear swaybar on my 79 during a rebuild. I used the entire 9" setup from an 85 pickup, including the rear end. The holes in the frame matched up perfectly. There is a picture of the rear setup in my gallery.

Did I understand right, there isn't swaybars offered for a '75 4x4? I have a crewcab with the 44 front and 60 rear, you'd think there would be a fit. Maybe not because it's a highboy? Anybody know anything about that?

My 78 F-250 2wd Supercab Custom had front and rear swaybars. I just got to fit the rear swaybar on my Dana 70B. Probally a little rarer to find them on a low model truck.

Ford did not provide sway bars for 1973/76 F Series 4X4 Trucks. Only 1977/79 4X4's offered them...see post #9.

My 1979 F150 4x4 has factory sway bars on the front and rear. Front axle is a Dana 44 and rear axle is a ford 9" .

I had a 1978 F250 4x4 Ranger that also had front and rear sway bars. Front axle was a Dana 44 and rear axle was a Dana 60 I think.

On both trucks I replaced the rubber bushings, and being that they are both four wheel drive and sit a little higher than two wheel drives, the suspension seemed a little stiffer with the new bushings. I have never driven a Ford from 1973-79 with out sway bars, so I am not sure on the difference between one with and one with out.

Also both trucks had rear auxillary springs, the F250 had the extra leaf with brackets, only affectedd the rid when loaded. The F150 has the bolt on progressive leaf set, rides smooth though.
