Hey Glenn does the person filing the grievance have more seniority than you?.
I have received information from a reliable source (seiu rep) that unless the person has more seniority and is qualified he would not be able to bump you out. Don't you have a union rep?? Union reps have to support all members not just the ones that complain. I could find out who complained if it was that important but stictly on the QT or $100 then I have no conscience.
Glenn Okay I made another call. The hearing will likly take 2 years to happen. Also the grievance had to be filed even if the union rep thinks the person does not even have a sniff of a chance to displace you. I might be able to give you odds tomorrow wether or not the person has a chance. Remember mums the word.
I heard through the grapevine who it maybe is. He has less than 10 years. Has a chip on his shoulder is not liked by a lot of people especially the ones in Maintenance. He is known to be lazy and pass the buck and not do a proper job. He worked for Canada post and was terminated. It is pretty hard to get fired from Canada post.
He worked in Maint. already for a few years, but he got the job by misleading the manager at that site on his qualifications. By the time they found out he mislead them he was through the probation period and was able to stay.
To me if you lie or mislead your qualification to get the job, I'm sorry that should be grounds for a dismissal of your employment. But the unions I find tend to fight for these guys. so that is problly how he manage to stay on.
Anyways a few years later maint. had some position bumping happening and himbeing the low man on senority. He got bumped out of Maint. He has had a chip on his shoulder ever since. They were glad to get rid of him and don't want him back.
I'M making about $300 more evry 2 weeks than my old job. So I get about $600 more a month and its a job I like doing and feel proud of my work and gives me a sense of accomplishment. I really like doing this work.
Yeah I figure it could take a few years to go through. It depends how hard he pushes. Then it gets harder for him, because then I have a few more years of experience.
Yes I too find the union seems to play favortism. I also seen our union standing up more the deadbeats than the actuall honest good working employees. So unions have been really leaving me a sour taste. I see their need, but they protect the lazy A**es of society too much.
In the end I think he willl lose out.
Hey Glenn As a business owner for 30 plus years I hate unions so don't get me wrong I agree with you. They protect the lazy. But I have the ear of a union rep re read # 20 post The union works for each member so they have to file the grievance even thou they know it's a vendetta or a farce. But that member has the right to complain. You likly have nothing to worry about. The union usually has a problem with management hiring friends and Just anybody to fill the vacancy. Then a person has a beef to complain. In your case this is unlikly. Keep working I'll bet you'll retire in that job.
Thats the plan. I can go in 4 years, but I think I will shoot for 5 to bump the pension up a bit more. I beleive I probally will be here to retirement.
I look forward to being able to stay home and do restoration work, help the wifes hsop and getting into making arbors , trellises, gates . I want to learn powder coating also.
Great ! When you get into powder coating make sure you keep the gas lines tight. C&C here in town blew the place up earlier this week. Closed indefinatly.
sorry to hear about this crap your hearing about...
listen to Paso...
people just love to spread rumours...and at this point, without any official paperwork to back it up...not much you can do...if you let it bug you this early on, then that might be all he wants... stay positive man..although I am sure you already know to do that
Ive been dealing with a lowball purchaser on my house...his first offer I took as an insult...so I sat on it for a week and then counter offered... by this time we had another person offering and the first guy raised his price to a pretty okay offer...
give it some time, and try and find something about it to laugh at...such as the guy filing the grievance
sounds to me like we should all refer to him as osama at this point...or something better
that Osama character dosnt have a chance...
dont lose any sleep over it glen... sometimes things happen for good reasons...to lead us into the next phases... if its not meant to be it wont happen...thats something only you can say though...
I agree...this forum is great... your getting some really good feedback on the situation
