If one of my professors suddenly died, should I be sad?

Don't worry, Terry. I'm here.

Just for my own mind here, you WORK for a "company" that makes extruded wire for which they don't know what to do with? So, ah, is wire getting made and spooled up and just stored? Are you SURE there isn't something else in the center of this "wire"?

Well, at least I now understand why they hired you. Only thing they're missing is Tom. Then they'd have TNT!! It's DYNOMITE!! Gonna win that fight!! Because it's TNT!!

Well, you're half right 6L. I work for a company that is located onsite of its parent company. Both of which use "x" amount of wire. It's been a pet project/idea for many years for them to manufacture their own wire.

So, they went out and purchased an extrusion line...hired me to install, program, and basically "bless it", then realized that they needed someone to run it. So they hired me on permanently.

Great.

The company I work for uses "A" amount of wire per year. The parent company uses "B" amount per year. Now then, add A to B and you have our annual requirements for extruded wire. Let's call that amount "C".

There was some conversation about selling wire directly to outside customers as well.

The machine that they purchased can easily produce amount "C" in less than one month. WTF am I supposed to do for the other 11 months? Don't have room to store that amount of wire...certainly don't want to invest in copper before we have to...at $3.00 and change a pound...

So NOW our sales gerbils are out there aggressively selling our wire.

You catch up yet?

Sheesh.

(Or are you asking for an application?---too bad...one of me is enough!)

well if you produce x amount of wire but A+B=C, then X is Null.

unless of course C<X/T.

But if your production (P) is greater than company need (N) then Output (O) exceeds what they expect of Terry (T).
what does this translate to? well the big wigs shorten it to NO TP

Sad, or Glad, you'dprobably outlive them either way.

Except maybe a chemistry professor...

Was looking for some 4/0 welding wire. Don't know why it's so expensive. How about 2/0? That'd work too.

4/0?? Um...no. That's a little bigger then anything that I make. We're set up for 8 awg, but haven't actually made that yet. 10 awg is as big as I've made to date. (with this company...)

As for the 12 awg, I've only run it once or twice...but next time I make it, I could probably grab some...dunno when that's going to be tho.
