97 expedition cooling problem

i just started to have the same problems. i have checked coolant and there is no sign of oil in it and no sign of coolant in the oil. i replaced the coolant cap and it worked for about a week. and all of a sudden it went back to acting up. i plan of pulling the water pump off this weekend. the expy runs fine after it acts up in that first few minutes. i have not pulled the radiator out yet.

update on heating - cooling problem on expy. with thermostat removed and the addition of a tee for flushing in heater return hose,i am getting a little heat and not running hot. on very cold days the heat is not suficient.i am going to try a cooler thermostat like maybe 180-185 degree.
