Took my truck into FORD today and got them to take it for a little drive. Diagnosis is a bad U joint. Now from what he was saying that this has to be replaced asap. He quoted me around $300 to $400 for the repair. Thats not all. Need to replace the seal where the drive shaft connects to the diff. I think this is called the yoke? Another $300 to replace and $20 for the seal.
Bearings in the joints dray up and the drive shaft falls out... Drive shaft wobbles and makes other parts wear un-naturally like the tail shaft of the trans or puts extra wear on the pinion gear.
With the seal at the yoke being bad you could run the chance of the diff running low on gear oil...
Pull the Drive shaft and take it to your local NAPA machine shop. 6 bolts if i remember right. 4 at the rear-end and 2 at the center bearing.
Splicer makes a very strong u-jont. Autozone or NApa should have them.
If you don't Tow Extremely heavy you may want to consider the u-joints with the grease fittings, they are hollow to allow service , but you give up a little strength compared to the non-service which should be solid.
There should be some signs of a leak, and your rear end oil level should be low, if the rear yoke is leaking.

I may have the same problem. Feels like I'm on a bumpy road when traveling at 45mph. I don't feel it at other mph's not to say that it's not doing it. Will have to bring to the dealer and have it checked out.
I dont have a bumpy feeling, It's more of a vibration throughout the truck. Most noticible in the gas pedal and in the floor boards. Vibration intensity goes up and down depending what gear and what rpm range I am in.
HA! No u joint problem found. Got the seal replaced. Bout it. Diagnosis of problem now, tire wear is what causing the vibrations. When I went ahead and replaced my balljoints in the summer, I didnt get a wheel alingment done. Now I'm paying for it with new tires. Bout time I got some new mudders on there anyways!
I had to replace the yoke seal twice on my truck, dealer was gonna charge me $200 for the repair but took it to my local shop and he did it all for $50 incluging parts!
I had a high frequency- low speed vibration in my 05 PSD right from the factory. It came in at about 48 mph and left at 58 mph. It was the driveshaft out of balance. Got it done at Ford garage and all is well.
