I have a 95 f-150 with manual trans and 6cyl with 178000 miles. ever since i have woned the truck the airbag light has been flashing. I saw a few threads on here and decided to find the cause. My light blinks 5x then 1x form what i have read on different threads that is a 51 i am guessing. SO, i looked that up and found that it means-
51. Air Bag Diagnostic Monitor Internal Thermal Fuse - Fuse Blown Due to Intermittent Short to Ground
Now what? any ideas. I have seen that some of the codes are due to a bad clock spring.
Its seems that the clock spring was the cause of alot of the other peoples problems.
I will check around the radiator for a ground tomorrow. Is it easy to locate?
thanks for the input i didn't really know where to go on this one.
Are the brackets about 10in on either side of the hood latch uner that rubber peice or are they under the single long rubber flap that goes toward the motor on the inside up agains the radiator? I see 3 bolts on the black brackets I think i see what you are talking about. They look the same on both side but i dont see a ground wire coming out just a cluster.
I took them off the pasengerside looked good but i think the driverside one is junk. it has serious rust rot coming from the block looking sensor itself. I could not get it the whole way out but could look at it after i unbolted it, picked at it a little of the case fell off and the inside is comparable to serious frame rot that is all I can compare it to just falling apart from the inside out. This is my guess as to the problem. ohh i most always take the battery off and wait a while before i work on it im afraid of airbags. Is this sensor something i can buy at a parts store?
thank you for the fast replies i really appreciate it
