Love my Dp tuner, but....my 80 econo is a little weird. if im anywhere bellow 1800RPM it wont build rpm or spool up at all..unless on a slight downhill...and then once it hits 2200 it kicks in hard, and unless I shift at like 3200 rpm the rpms are too low and then it takes a couple seconds for the turbo to spool upagain. but on the other tunes it starts to go from any rpm..but on the 80 its honestly less than stock untill 2000rpm...anyone else have this problem?
Mine did the same thing the other day. I read on here that cold starts in anything but a stock setting was not advised. So the other day I switched it back to stock to warm up then after reaching operating temp I put it back to 80. It fell flat on its face. Then as you say at 2200 better hold on. Almost seemed as a fuel problem. After i shut my truck off, and restarted after work it worked as good as ever. I fiqure that DP sells a pcm with 80 econo that you cant switch i'll leave mine in all the time and monitor egt.
I always start mine in the stock setting and run stock until its up to normal operating temp. and even when its warm and I shut it off, I bump it down to stock before starting. it is making me mad, becasue I cant even cruise down the highway in 6th gear unless your around 2000 rpm and if you hit a hill below that rpm gotta drop down to 5th
Try just leaving it 80...thats what I'll continue to do. I keep my rpm below 1800-2000 til she warms up. With the EBPV open I'll see EGT about 600-750 degrees at that rpm.
You need boost to build power. You cannot build boost without RPM. I have the 80 eco on my chip as well, and yes, it doesn't make a whole lot of power just cruising under 2000 rpm. But let it shift down, and hold on
That program really shines when you are in OD, going 70+ down the interstate.
I don't think you have anything wrong, it is just the nature of the beast

yea, but I cant gain rpm, even to the floor it does nothing if at say 1500 unless on slight downhill..where if I was in stock I could at leas slowly build some RPM. if it were an auto tho im sure it would seem fine, since it would just shift down...
In my truck the 80 econo has, by far, the best low/mid range & part throttle, responce of all the programs I have.
I have no start, stock, 60tow, 80econo & 120 race.
I just leave it in 80 all the time & have not had any problem so far.
jetdoc, I just went and tested your theory.....and it wokred for me aswell. im now happy with my tuner on all levels!!
all my other tunes work just fine. before my 80 wouldnt blow black smoke...but today it did when I started it up in 80...I guess Ill continue to do that.
You shouldn't have to do that-I am constantly flipping my switch on the fly-I live here where it can get to -30 below, and I always run it on stock position until the motor is at operating temp, then switch it over. I even switch programs while cruising down the interstate, just to get some info from my gauge cluster on where each program runs for boost, egt, etc. Sounds like you may have a cable or switch problem. You should be able to switch back and forth without a problem...good luck.
If you're not happy with the 80 econo, call Jody up and describe what you're having issues with. It might be the way the economy program is designed. Or, it might be something he'll think is abnormal... and might need to send the chip back for a reburn of that program.

I'm glad it worked for you! I leave mine in 80 all the time.
