hi all
before making a purchase , I would like to know consumption (mpg) of a f350 centurion crew cab dually idi td of 1994.
city, motorway and with a trailer of 6000 lbs.
thank you for your assistance.
fred
Possibly: 15 city/towing and 20 mpg highway. This would depend on engine/IP condition and fuel quality. What gear ratio do you have, get the # off the door post tag under axle.
Depending on Axle ratio and transmission type.. with a 6000# trailer I dont know my f250 with 6000# enclosed trailer gets about 12 mpg. very much dependent on wind and speed..
Your milage will depend on type of tranny, and axle ratio. With a ZF5 manual tranny 3:55 rear end you could possibly reach 15/20 mpg but that would be about the best I would expect.
The actual for a dually would probably be a somewhat less, especially if you drive in a mountainous area like BC.
On the flats 15/20 sounds doable with a standard tranny and 3:55 rear end.
Diesel MPG is very dependant on terrain, elevation, load and the biggy is driving style.
Two identically equipped trucks in the same area with two different drivers, one drives a little slower, takes off a little slower and lets off the throttle a lot earlier when coming to a stop, against a driver that is either wide open or on the brakes hard can easily have a 50% difference in MPG.
Truck equipment is only a small part of the MPG equation.
I driven all sorts of terrian.....diesel engines are [were?] the engine of choice, being high tourqe, with good fuel economy...ask an independent truck driver of what he thinks the current prices at the pumps!
Getting good MPG's [IDI] is no different than any other engine...let it breathe...air intake mods & free flowing exhaust!
The biggest increase in Fuel economy is in your right foot....keeping RPM's under 2300 will give the best Fuel economy!
we are much on the motorway so is it possible to use the over drive on flat road .we towing a airstream safari of 1973.is not a very big trailer.before we towing with a dodge van b250 5.2 l efi.

What transmission and rear axle ratio do you have? I do tow on flat ground in od with my zf5 just watch how much you have to step into it.. and how hot its getting.. do you have a turbo?
my bud claims he gets about 14. in a '94 F350 crew cab E4OD about 500#s in back
we're in houston mostly flat country-sea level conditions; around town
stock truck fresh i-p on truck
I will buy a 1994 IDI turbo F350 crew cab with E4OD but i don't know rear axle ratio .
I was to go to see it before the purchase but there is too much snow in this momment in my area and I must traverse 300 miles .i stand by.

In my experience the F350's tend to be equipped more likely with the 4:10 rather than 3:55 gears. That will hurt fuel economy a bit. Better for towing and hauling so.
thank you for the information.
I will wait one week that the climate changes to go to see.
but consumption is not important because I am in love with F 350 dually and of the 7.3 L..
fred
sorry for my american
