A little background. My early 99 F250 came with a viper key fob which doesn't work and at some point the key quite working in the drivers door so we I'm currently running on the honor system when it comes to security.
I'm going to try some WD40 on the lock and the other key that came with the truck, then get into the door and make sure everything is looking good. I think I may need to do the actuator rebuild listed somewhere else on the website. Once I have the door lockable I'd like to get some keyless fobs that work.
My truck is an XLT with power windows, cruise, CD etc.. I'm fairly sure it came with keyless entry. How can I locate the factory keyless module and is it capable of programming Ford FOBs if I went to the dealer and purchased a set? Any idea where I might find the Viper components? I think it is possible, the FOB doesn't belong with the truck.
Any help jor ideas would be appreciated -
Thanks, Todd
If your truck came with Keyless, they stealer can easily supply you with new remotes, and the instructions for programming 'em are in the owners manual for your truck.
You can buy new fobs on Ebay for about 10 bucks and they come with programming instructions. I did it and it worked great. Go to the stealer and be prepared to pay thru the nose.
I have a 99 xlt and My truck isn't compatible. I bought mine off Ebay for $10 and I believe it is actual ford part #. You might want to check your vin with dealer to see if it is actually an option on your truck.
