long tube headers

Who is running long tube headers on their truck with a 302/auto/2wd?
Hedman is selling their street headers and hooker is selling their competition headers for this application ('79 f150 302/auto/2wd). I currently run mustang shorty headers. I am wanting to know if anyone is running either of these headers and how low they hang down (pictures would be nice) as 1. I hate it when headers hang so low you see them when looking at the side of the truck 2. my truck will be lowered.

And I would like to hear any pros/cons and any comments in general, I will be ordering coated headers either way I go.

Appreciate the advice.

Nick

Nick, I just recently had the Hooker long tubes put on my '73 302 c4 2wd. They don't hang down low. Actually, the collector flange ends up just above the cross member. I am happy with them so far--exhaust sounds great with the Magnaflows. Sorry I am unable to post pics. There are several issues/tips in general concerning the installation of headers found in these forums. Have you searched for any threads about this, yet?

Cool, glad to hear they don't hang lower than the frame rails.
I did a seach but nothing came back for 289/302 that had anything of interest to me.
Current set up was 5.0 mustang shortys coated, 2.5" with x pipe cut outs and magnaflows dumped after the axle, sounded good. Worked out but now that I saw the long tube trucks available coated I may do that since Im doing a frame off rebuild right now.
I really wish I could see pictures, does anyone have any?
No leaks or anything like that?
Any problems or tips on fitment?

I appreciate the help.

79f150tx, go to the "exhaust systems" forum and search "headers". You will get a ton of info. There are people in these forums that have more knowledge in their little finger than you and I have in our whole bodies. Happy motoring!
