the kits come with a short shaft that lengthens it..it's a simple install. I've done two bronco's in my past.

I had a small amount of feed back (binding) in the rag joint on my 84 with the 3" body lift. Not much at all with a 2". I installed a PA 2" then a 3" body lift. I have been told that this is less of a problem with the later model BII steering column that has a u-joint in place of the rag joint.

I know the kits they offer on truckperformance.com (Performance Accessories & Superlift) usually come with the steering and shifter extensions, etc. Also, depends on local laws (i.e., a 3" body lift here in VA is illegal, if I remember right). I don't think I'd go over a 1-2" (or less) body lift, personally. You want to keep your CG as low as possible, especially one the BIIs, as they are fairly topheavy as it is. Raising it too much would make it more suceptible to rolling, IMO. You may also want to look into the Bushwacker Cut-Out Flares.

I put a 2" lift on one of my BIIs so I could run the exhaust straight back out between the body and bumper (better for deep water and deep snow). Personally, I am not a big fan of body lifts, especially on the BII because I think it tends to tear the floor seams on the driver and pass. side when you have it crossed up.

I just installed a 3" on my BII tonight and did get some binding on the steering shaft. I dropped the mounting plate about 1/2", loosened the mount bolts on the dash and adjusted the column until there was no more binding. Then I tightened it all back up and it works great.

Go ahead and lift it. As long as you don't drive it like a sports car you won't have an issue with rolling. Slightly wider tires will help too.

I personally would never use another body lift again. I had used em on two BII's and wheeled em regularly, nothing crazy just trails. Both floors were destroyed by the twisting of the body on the frame, The floors literally tore and cracked from the crazy leverage the 3 inch lifts create. At first i didn't notice then heard and felt poping underneath my feet on the drivers floorboard... thought my bushings had problems or something.

Could not find out what was going on, so I decided to pull the carpet back and make sure the bolts were tight. Thats when I saw that the body had completely torn and cracked at the seams around the bolt anchor area.. BOTH sides of BOTH BII's and yes the bolts were tight and in fact the body sheet metal was still bolted to it, just no longer part of the truck! The trucks were pristen and zero rust... all socal trucks. Not to mention it looks stupid seeing a truck with a giant gap under the body and the bumpers not sitting right.

If your sure you want to do one, as there a very cost effective method to stuff some tires , try 1 or mabey 2 inches..

But I guess to each his or her own
