I own a 1994 4.9L 2wd, stick. I am the original owner. Old blue as it is know around my place is used on weekends only, and not every weekend. I am considering fixing it up as a weekend ride/project/toy. Does any one have advice on replacing the exhaust with headers and a muffler. Is it worth replacing the intake or is the original EFI best. I have had no problems with the motor todate, 1400000 miles.
The speedometer went out about a year ago, any advice on replacing it?
i have a set of hooker super comp headers that do bolt to it....youd have to adjust the air flow sensor or change it one cuz i had them on my 90 4.9 and it idled way too high for me...not o mention these headers are quite large (1 pc) and it would cost me 400 bucks around here to get a cat and glass pack and pipes put on it....you also have to notch out ht e accesory bracket on passenger side for clearance....good luck with your ride mine is a work in progress....geting new set of 10x15 cooper tires put on it in a week or so. PEACE!
Thanks, I have already had problems locating headers for the 4.9L with EFI. the 94,95 year switched to EFI and the 97 went to 4.6L. So far Clifford Headers is the only one I have found that is a bolt on and accomodates the EFI sensor.

Is It The Speedometer Or The Speed Sensor In The Rear Axle That's Not Working??? If You Have Abs Or Cruise And It's The Sensor Then Those Shouldn't Be Working Either. If It's Actually The Speedo, It Simply Unscrews From The Instrument Cluster And You Can Plug A New One Right In. I'm Looking At Going With The Clifford Performance Header Whenever I Decide To Do A Rebuild On Mine.
I hope it is the speedometer, as I have already pulled it. I plan on visiting a local used auto parks yard for a replacement. If it is not that then I will check the sensors. As it is, when I use old blue I take my hand held GPS with me to check my speed on the highway.
Thanks.
Do you plan on replacing the intake when you do the headers?
