question on fluid change tech article

i plan on installing a external tranny filter and change my tranny fluid in my 96 bronco. i read this article...

and would like to know what would keep the old fluid from contaminating the new fluid? would you need to plug the tranny? any ideas... or thoughts?

There is a little mixing, but not enough to worry about. You don't need to plug the tranny.

Unless the old fluid is *really* bad, you don't need to worry about a few quarts of ATF that may stay in there.
