Question Maf

I have a question I was trying to spray seafoam deep creep into my enginge when i disconnected the intake tube from the t.b. the enginge died. I thought if you disconnected the hose the computer was supposed to go into a closed loop and the enginge would run rough not die. Is this true or is there something wrong with my MAF

When you disconnect the intake tube from the throttle body, you've got no airflow over the MAF sensor; the EMC thinks the intake is plugged and shuts down the engine.

If you UNPLUG the mass air flow sensor, it should run.

Basically it adjusts the fuel to match the incoming air (based on a formula.. which also takes into effect other factors such as engine load, temperature, O2 sensor readings, and throttle position)... when you disconnected the intake hose, no air was passing across the sensor... and no air = no fuel... = no run.

Unplugging the sensor will force a failsafe mode and it should run.. but be prepared to clear the check engine light when you're done.

Good luck
