It's interesting to see what some of the trucks out there are going for (but I'm not sure BJ is the best indicator). Through Thursday four F-100's have gone under the gavel and the prices were,
Lot 131 - 1963 Ford F-100 $7,700
Lot 423 - 1952 Ford F-100 $52,800
Lot 450.1 - 1954 Ford F-100 $47,300
Lot 638 - 1954 Ford F-100 $60,500
The auction is being shown on the Speed channel today through Sunday at these times,
Friday - 4 pm to 12 am
Saturday - 2 pm to 12 am
Sunday - 12 pm to 7 pm
There should be seven more of our trucks to go
Lot 915.1 - 1955 Ford F-100
Lot 929 - 1959 Ford F-100 4X4
Lot 1218 - 1956 Ford F-100
Lot 1260.1 - 1956 Ford F-100
Lot 1606 - 1956 Ford F-100
Lot 1612 - 1948 Ford F-100
Lot 9036 - 1956 Ford F-100
I looked through the pictures of the truck and for that kind of money, I'd want a 100 point correct and original resto. I counted at least five inaccuracies on the truck.
One major inaccuracy are the bumpers. The second is the VIN tag on the firewall. In 52, Ford eliminated the firewall VIN tag. The oil bath air cleaner is from a V8. OHV 6 cylinder had a different oil bath air cleaner.
There are other minor inaccuracies that bug me, but I'm not the one that restored it.

Ilya,
Fortunately, you're not the goof that paid that much for it either. For that kind of money I think it should have come with a chauffeur.
For that kind of money, I could have purchased at least three trucks in the same condition.

....you have to get out of your gold plated office, hotel or mansion in order get the better buys you mention. These guys use BJ as their one stop shop. I'm sick of seeing these rich people sucking up all the nice cars for their collections and inflating the price of all vehicles at the same time.
you got in there ahead of me.its to bad that place ever happened.it has nothing to do with value.its some guy trying to impress his girl friend or whoever is watching.it driving the price of old rigs out of reach for the average joe.morons thing the old rust bucket in the back yard is worth as much.you see it all the time fix it up and take it to barret jackson.ya right.just try and get it on there.
A friend of mine that is at the auction has been talking to some of the sellers, mainly muscle car guys, and he is being told that they are not getting out what they have into cars. I would bet it is the same for the trucks.

At almost $53k sale price, I think that the PO made some $$ on that truck. I don't think that a good resto would be over $30k on an F1.

Iyla, I think it would. Try to find a restoration shop at less than $50/hr that can do an every nut and bolt restoration in less than 1000 hours, so, that is the $50k. Now what did you pay for the unrestored truck and how much did you spend on parts, restoration supplies, at the engine rebuilders shop, etc. I have not kept track of my hours on Willard, my 49, but I did keep track back when I was in my prime on a 38 Woodie. That was 1700 hours, however, Woodies are generally more hours than steel bodies cars or trucks. Those of us that do our own work do not really normally count the hours.
There's a nice F-1 featured in this months custom classic trucks. Very well done, chopped top, 'glass fenders, nice interior. The feature says the owner doesn't drive it much as he has.....$80,000 in it!
