I noticed a number of rear options, but no mention of installing an Independent Rear Suspension... has anyone considered this as a viable option?

i thought about a independent rearend out of an older t-bird. i was told if i found one with a turbo 4 cylinder or 8 cylinder it comes with a 3:25 posi. suppose to be easier than the volarie front end install.

yes, the rear Tbird or Lincoln Mark 8 IRS install is quite easy... I'm working on a bolt-in one as well to make it even easier.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have - email or call. More info may be found at truckIRS.com

does this install interfere with a fuel tank that is mounted behind the rear axle between the frame rails?

I'll take some photos from directly overhead this week to point out the areas of interference... You could help me by letting me know the year and model of the truck you are asking about... as well as any specific dimensional information you can provide of the gas tank relative to the frame rails and axle centerline.

A dodge 8 3/4 out of an erly 60's half ton will also work, and has
the same bolt pattern also.

Flat-Out Engineering in Anaheim, CA sells a bolt-in kit that will enable you to install a Corvette IRS in your F100. I fabricated my own frame mods on my 50 Merc to install a 92 C4 IRS, the kit is worth the money!

I tried to send you an email with photos of the Tbird IRS positioned between some frame rails to give you an idea of the size... but I was unable to send you an email.

If you would like to see these photos - email me : dave@truckIRS.com
