I have a 2004 F-150 4X4 V8 4.6L, love this truck but weant alittle more power, everyone is telling me to purchase the Edge Evolution, can any one tel me the pros or cons? some friends say that i can burn ther motor up, or fry the trans, even void my for warranty, is it easy to mess the truck up, meaning frying something, really cant afford to make costly repairs, i trust everyone here sice they all drive the est truck in the world and wouldnt want to harm theres as well as any one elses, thanks and keep ford trucking!
Ive had my Edge Installed on my Truck ( 05' STX 4.6L SCAB) for well over a year and 30K miles under its belt and so far I couldnt even think of driving my truck without it installed. I am just using LVL 2 (Towing) and it has made a much noticable difference. Well worth IMO.
I have a '05 supercrew with the 4.6. That engine lacks power! I put the edge evolution on my truck Tuesday. I will never go back to stock. It is GREAT! I had a hypertech superchip on before the edge. When I took the superchip off I drove it stock for a while just to remind me how much a difference a tuner makes. To me the major difference is the gauge pod and being able to make changes right then in your truck, forgot to mention you can record 0-60 and quarter mile times. Oh, and you can plug its usb into your computer and up download updates. I bought my edge from www.discountpowerparts.com it was $339 total and shipping was free for purchases over $300. Thats the best price I have found. On the edge website it is $499.
Sonicman is right, Discount Power Parts has the best price on the Edge. I looked around quite a bit and they were lowest... Can't comment how it works tho, just ordered it the other day, it's still on Mr. Brown's truck heading to SO. Cal. $339 total price, no S&H, no taxes, no BS.

Like anything else it depends on how you use it. I haven't heard of anyone blowing up their motor or frying a trans. I've had mine about 7 months now and I'll never go back. I just use the conservative level 1 to help out the shift points. I'm sure if you maxed out some stuff in level 3 you could probably do some damage though. Take a look at the tuning thread for setups other guys are trying and their results.
A lot of guys report 1 to 2 mpg increase if you really can keep your foot out of it - which I most certainly can't . I never look at my mileage to tell the truth - just one less thing to worry about hehe.
great product and no complaints here. I love the performance I get out of this thing and since I dont have a tach, the Edge displays that info for me.
The only problem is that I keep blowing the fuse for the OBDII/Cig lighter (i never use the cig lighter) so that is sort of annoying. Its kinda weird how the OBDII and the Cig lighter are on the same circuit and share fuse.
