rpm surges

My 1993 5.8 bronco gets this random rpm drop when i stop at a stop light or come to a stop after driving for a little while. It never has completely stalled out. It happens a lot more when i have the headlights on and when i have anything electrical turned on like the heat. The voltage meter also drops randomly. Then when i get going again everything goes back to normal. Also sometimes when i come to a stop it doesnt happen. Any ideas would be great....thanks

have you pulled codes yet? why throw money at an issue that is unknown yet? the codes will give you a better ballpark idea of were to start.

I don't have a scanner to read the codes so I paid somebody to diagnose then repair. I also remember that while it was running high rpms for warm up it ran fine but as soon as it went down to normal rpms it started surgeing. I don't know off hand what the psi should be but, the shrader valve for testing the fuel pressure is easy to get to. Mine is located next to the distributer on the fuel rail going to the injectors.
