Powerstroke Stutter

Hello all, i am new but have been reading your posts for the past couple of days and i think you guys are pretty smart. First of all alittle background. I own a 97 f-250 powerstroke 4x4. i P.M. it regularly, i have a hypertech programm running and a K&N air filter, other then that my truck is stock. Ok, now to my problems. Recently (last 6-8 months) i have had problems with the truck occassionaly stalling when i come to a stop, it acts like the transmission doesn't disengage and it stalls the motor, put it in neutral an off i go again, but lately it will do itwhen coasting at idle speed not using the brake to slow. i also have what i call a stutter in the motor when in drive and overdrive, its like surging and now i have a lope when idling i think it is all connected. i have shanged the cam position sensor and running additive to clean injectors. fuel filter is clean, recent oil change.any help what be most appreciated. Oh yeah, when acclerating the truck has tons of power, just thought i'd mention that. Thanks ROB.

Sounds like a torque converter issue. Will the hypertech read codes? If so check to see what it will pull up.

Yep I would agree the torque converter is going out. If you change it its worth spending a little more to get a billet one over a stock one.

No the hypertech does not have the capablity to read codes, but i am considering removing this program and replace with this EDGE i have been hearing so much about. Does this EDGE have the capability to shange the tranny program as well, the Hypertech changes it so it shifts firmer?

Well the TCs can range anywhere from 400-1200 depending on what you want it to handle. If it was me I would check BTS out http://www.brianstruckshop.com/
or one of the other sponsers listed on this forum.

Before you change out your torque converter. I would ask, what brand CPS did you install? I got a new Wells CPS and it totally failed after 3 days. Put another one in and it was running like garbage.

I bought a International CPS and all of my problems were solved.

The old diesel wrench that owns the shop I have been buying parts from said that with a 7.3L PSD, there are 2 things that make the truck shut down. The IPR and the CPS. I also had my tranny rebuilt and new torque installed...
