Hey all, first off, I'm a 17 year male. Back in '98ish we got our blue Expedition, Blueford. Had I not swayed my parents opinion back then, we would probably not have an Expedition.
Now my dad found a red Expedition with about 140,000 miles on the clock and with a 3" body lift. My dad knows the lady selling it and she wants $2500 for it. Not a bad price at all in my book. One kicker is her husband put the body lift on it for his construction business. I'm not sure if he towed with it so it could have had transmission work done which would be nice because my Expy is in need of a new one.
My question to you all is do I start driving this red Expedition and put my Blueford in the garage? Blueford has sentimental value to me. So much so, I quit driving a 2003 V8 4Runner to drive my Expy. On the upside, though, I've been wanting to do a suspension lift and this is one way to get what I've wanted (even though it's a body lift). Other than the body lift and the color, these two Expeditions are the same with simliar mileage (133K vs about 140K).
Opinions?
On a side note, today I was trying to get up my driveway, which is fairly steep, in A4WD and just sat there spinning. Put the car into 4hi and didn't spin a bit.
Unfortunately I haven't driven Redford and don't know if I will be able to until mid February when she can afford another truck. I really did want to have a suspension lift as well but my dad won't let me because he doesn't want two lifted Expeditions, nor does he want to spend the money anymore to lift one of them and take the body lift off.
The good thing about Redford is that it needs new tires pretty quickly and where I'm going to college next year, there will be a lot of mud flinging. I want to get it prepared for that either way. Also, when I saw it in person the Red Expedition did look a lot better than a stock Expedition just in case you were hoping to lift yours. I'd definately say the looks appealed to me. Hopefully things will go well as it is hard to part with a car I grew up with.
Okay, so I have a new problem/question. Tonight I was fooling around in A4WD on the driveway. Couldn't get up, so I put it into 4HI. Still couldn't get up, so I switched back to A4WD then to 2wd. Either way couldn't get up from a standstill and when I pushed it back into A4wd only the front wheels spun and not the rear. I then proceeded to drive around the block and go back up the driveway and my friend said neither of the wheels on the driver's side were spinning. I'm perplexed... What do I do? Anyway, thanks again
