As I recall, the link between the fast idle cam and the choke butterfly is fixed. If that is the case with yours, the choke is opening too quickly. Take a voltmeter and check the voltage at the connector on the elec choke housing. The feed for it is supposed to be off the back of the alternator and I believe it delivers 6 or 8 volts. If it is getting 12volts or more, someone has changed the wiring.
I think, (check me on this,) the terminal on the alternaor is the stator terminal, labeled "S"
